And so, it begins. A dream come true. I will bring the best cacao I have ever tasted to the people, and contribute to ocean conservation. Leaving all fears and doubts behind, I enter this space, with this medicine.
Here’s a little bit of the story of how I got here…
On the Ocean:
The ocean has brought be back home over and over again. A surf, dive or even just a quick swim could turn around my sobby mood into feeling magnificent.
I knew I wanted to give back, so I studied the Ocean. After completing my marine biology degree, I couldn’t wait to do something meaningful and impactful for our ocean. However, I simply could not find a job that made me feel like I was making any kind of positive impact… In fact, in one interview I was asked “Are you willing to put aside some of your values to represent this industry?”… I knew I was in the wrong place and actually found a sense of utter joy when I found out I did not get the job.
On Cacao:
Cacao has been part of my life for many years. However, being aware of the cacao, coffee and tea industry being highly affiliated with slave labour, I wanted to make sure I was getting ethically sourced cacao. I had tried a few different brands but never had much luck finding the direct supplier. Understandably, as people keep things quite secret in this growing industry.

Long story short, I met the love of my life this year. He, too, shared a deep love for cacao and the ocean. The morning after I stayed at his house for the first time, he showed me his cacao blocks. The man had 2 kilos of bulk bought cacao. Not only that – he had a cupboard full of locally sourced spices. I knew then and there:
he’s the one.
At first, we weren’t sure if it was all the hormones and lovey endorphins that made us feel like this; but when we made our first cacao together, we both felt it was the best cacao we had ever tasted in our lives.
What started with an idea evolved into finding the supplier. I got in touch and was overjoyed to hear the cacao was of single origin, directly receive it from the farm, are Rainforest Alliance certified and comply with the OECD‑FAO Guidance for Responsible Agricultural Supply Chains. No slave labour here!
The intention of Siren Lazuli is to sell quality cacao products and grow as a business to give back to our ocean; and invite us to look deep within and remember our calling (more on that soon)…
